Giacomo Marani Ph.D.
Giacomo Marani received the Laurea degree (equivalent to a master’s degree) in electronic engineering and a doctorate in robotics and automation from the University of Pisa, Italy. He previously served as acting principal investigator on the development of semi-autonomous underwater vehicles for intervention missions at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Marani is the lead researcher at the West Virginia Robotic Technology Center, with focus on development of real-time algorithms for autonomous robotic intervention, including sensor fusion, environment interaction with computer vision and dynamic simulation of mechanical systems. He is chair of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Marine Robotics Technical Committee.
